Quick answer
DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition bundles the full original game with all bonus content from the Nintendo Switch release, including extra character stories, orchestral soundtrack, and a 2D mode.
What makes this version definitive?
The Definitive Edition includes every piece of content from the original DRAGON QUEST XI plus all the additions from the S version: new scenarios for each party member, the ability to switch between the original soundtrack and a fully orchestrated version, and a retro 2D mode that lets you play the entire game in pixel art. It also adds photo mode, a Japanese voice option, and quality-of-life tweaks like faster battles and a draconian quest system for extra challenge.
Is this edition exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2?
This specific version is compatible only with Nintendo Switch 2. If you own a standard Nintendo Switch, you will need to purchase the separate Nintendo Switch version of the game. The Switch 2 edition takes advantage of the hardware's improved performance, but the core content is identical to the Definitive Edition available on other platforms.
